Restaurant du Refuge de Solaise

At two thousand five hundred and fifty-one metres, this is the former Solaise cable-car station turned hotel (sixteen rooms, four apartments, a dormitory, a twenty-five-metre pool) and its main table serves straightforward Savoyard cooking, indoors or on the vast terrace. Lunch runs every day from noon to three. Dinner by reservation only, which means coming up by gondola and, most often, staying the night. On Saturdays the house serves a dinner under the stars built around fondue and raclette. It is one of the very few nights at altitude I can arrange in this resort.
