Mountain restaurant
The building dates from 1973, the year the Fornet cable car opened, and it has stayed put since: two thousand three hundred and thirty metres, in the heart of the Fornet massif, with a panoramic terrace that justifies the ride on its own. The cooking is French and inventive, more worked than the average altitude table, and the house has twice been named best mountain restaurant at the World Snow Awards, in 2008 and again in 2015. Wheelchair accessible, and dogs are welcome, two details that solve a good many logistical problems.
You lunch here in ski gear, boots on, as everyone does and nobody will look at you. Just bring an extra layer for the terrace, you cool down quickly once you sit.
