Let us say it at once, because it changes how the day is organised: **you do not take off from Val d'Isère**. The resort has no airstrip, only the La Daille heliport, reserved for helicopters. So the microlight leaves from a strip down the valley, and you must allow for the journey each way. We confirm the exact departure point and time when booking. That said, it is worth it. A weight-shift microlight is a wing and a seat in the open air: you do not look at the landscape through glass, you are in it, with the cold and the noise of the wind. Nothing like a helicopter, where you sit in a cabin. It is rawer, far cheaper, and for many people more memorable. Two precautions. It is very cold: a flight suit is provided, wear an extra layer underneath. And the wind governs everything: a microlight does not take off in a sustained breeze, and flights are set early in the morning or late in the day, when the air is calm.
