Guided off-piste skiing
One point that is not administrative pedantry: a ski instructor and a mountain guide do not do the same job and are not licensed for the same thing. As soon as you leave the secured area for any length of time, to reach a valley no lift serves, you need a mountain guide. We never blur the two, and if you are offered committing off-piste with an instructor elsewhere, ask the question. That said, Megève's off-piste is not the great faces of the Tarentaise: the massif is more wooded, more rolling, and it gives superb tree skiing when visibility is poor everywhere else, that is its strength on foggy days. The guide sets the route in the morning, from the bulletin and from what he saw the day before. He decides, not the client: that is the one rule we do not bend.

Pricing
From €600 per day, for the group
A guide is paid by the day and for the group, not per person: with four of you it comes to €150 each. A half day is possible depending on the period. Safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe) is provided and included. Lift passes remain separate. If the snowpack does not allow it we postpone: we do not substitute a day on the piste at the same price.
