La Grande Ourse

La Grande Ourse has been receiving guests for almost a century, at the foot of the slopes, a step away from the Airelles that now runs it. It is the chalet taken literally (carved wood, plaid carpet, a great stone fireplace with antique copper pans hung above it) and the menu follows: tartiflette, fondue, raclette, and croziflette made with crozets, the speciality you will not find elsewhere. I send clients here when they want a genuine Savoyard evening without giving up the service of a proper house. Booking essential in school holidays.
