Visite privée du musée océanographique

It is the most impressive building on the Rock, and one of the few places in Monaco that has nothing to do with money. Prince Albert I founded it in 1889 and inaugurated it on 29 March 1910, after eleven years of work: a stone façade set into the cliff face more than eighty metres above the sea, which had to be built out of thin air. Seeing it from a boat is worth the trip on its own. Inside, the aquarium holds around a hundred tanks over six thousand square metres, with more than six thousand animals and some three hundred and fifty species. The shark lagoon is what the children remember: blacktip sharks, a nurse shark, morays and a guitar ray that crosses the glass without warning. Our advice, because this is the trap: the museum is badly visited in late morning, when the groups arrive. We place the visit at opening or in late afternoon, with a guide, and keep the roof terrace for the end, from there you see the whole coast as far as Italy.
